National Language: The official language of Costa Rica is Spanish. However, English is widely spoken in tourist areas.

Casado: A Costa Rican platter that typically includes rice, beans, meat, vegetables and plantains. Olla de carne: A Costa Rican stew made with beef, potatoes, carrots, onions and other vegetables.
