Essential trip information
Cut out seven days and participate in a section of life that is as wild as it is beautiful, far removed from the dramas of urban clutches but with its very own distinctive scenes and acts played out on a stage that’s impossible to forget. Nothing is choreographed here except for the light of day and the darkness of night; all else in between being subject to fortuity for both prey and predator as they go about their daily business. Observe Kenya’s most untamed animals – the fiercest, biggest and fastest – on this privileged journey and get as close to them as humanly possible.
DAY 1
NAIROBI
Hello and welcome to Nairobi! Our representative will be at hand at the airport to greet you and then set you up for a ride to your hotel. Kick back and relax when you get there and don’t forget your meeting scheduled at 6 pm with your tour leader.

DAY 2
NAIVASHA
Take the expression “eating out of your hand” and own it as you take a short drive after breakfast to The African Fund for Endangered Wildlife Giraffe Centre to witness the endangered Rothschild giraffe at close quarters – so close you can hand feed them with molasses pellets from a viewing platform. Get some more information on the centre and the species that it protects as you feed them, and when your visit’s done, hop over to the Sheldrick Orphanage Centre to observe first hand young and baby elephants being bottle-fed, rolling about in the sand or being plain frisky as their same aged human counterparts. Located on the fringes of the Nairobi National Park, learn about how and why the centre was established, what goes on within the centre and how baby elephants are rehabilitated. Lunch beckons thereafter with a sumptuous fare and unique al fresco set up; followed by a drive to Lake Naivasha, your lodgings for the night. While the afternoon is free for you to spend at will, you might want to slip out on a boat to the lake and watch its most famous residents – flamingos and hippos – put on a show.
Accommodation: Naivasha Country Club
Included Activities: Giraffe Centre, Sheldrick Animal Orphanage
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Optional Activities: Boat Ride
Day 3
NAKURU
Drive approximately 3 hours after breakfast this morning to get to Nakuru National Park and immediately clamber on board jeeps for a safari when you get there. Dominated by Lake Nakuru which hosts pelicans, flamingos and hippos on its shallow banks, watch out for the land animals here as well, flitting between the grassland and an occasional slog over the mud flats while the steep escarpments that border the park and acacia trees keep an eternal watch over the daily proceedings. With the curtains being drawn over the safari late in the day, head for your accommodation. Tomorrow is the big day of the tour!
Accommodation: Lake Nakuru Lodge
Included Activities: Game Drive
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Optional Activities:
DAY 4
MARA
Travel southward for approximately 5 hours this morning via the Rift Valley Viewpoint to reach Kenya’s most famous national parks, the Maasai Mara. Chomp down on some lunch on arrival and then hop on to your waiting 4 wheel drives that’ll have you roving around the park for the rest of the afternoon. Replace the grunt of your vehicle with the more natural sound of a buffalo’s snort as it paws the ground or go trace the sounds of a lions roar as you wander around the park. Come head to head with cheetahs, leopards, elephants and other denizens of the park’s premise and witness both the beautiful and savage that are the preserves of these expansive grasslands.
Accommodation: Keekorok Lodge
Included Activities: Afternoon Game Drive
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

DAY 5
MARA
Wake up to another early morning breakfast and head out for another day of animal watching that’s divided between the morning and afternoon. Hunker down in your vehicles, just as the cheetahs do behind fallen trees and termite mounds, and watch them blaze a trail across the screen of flaxen coloured reeds. Observe the innumerable wildebeest choke the land with their numbers and disperse as if in a rehearsed choreography at the sight of a predator or bear witness to the lumbering herd of elephants as they make their resolute way to a watering hole.
Accommodation: Keekorok Lodge
Included Activities: Game Drive
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

DAY 6
MARA
A safari at dawn, just before the sun limbers up over the skyline, is on the cards today, giving you an opportunity to see the predators at work as they slink, creep and burst into life at an attempt to bring there prey down. Return for breakfast after your early morning outing. Laze about in the forenoon and then, with lunch tucked under your belt, return to the hunting grounds in the afternoon for another bout of animal observation. Space out your time here at the reserve by fitting in a visit to a Maasai village (either in the morning or afternoon) and get an insight into the lives, practices and the tradition of these nomadic people.
